EDGE COMPUTING
At the edge of a network, Edge computing facilitates to analyse, process and transfer the data. Instead of sending data to a far away centralized data centre, Edge computing enables to analyse data locally, which make data in real time to work without latency.
One of the main difference between existing Cloud computing and Edge Computing is the place where the data is getting processed. At present, Internet of Things(IOT) systems does all the computations in cloud using centralized data centres which is usually located far away.
One of the main challenges in Edge computing is the Physical security of devices, physical vulnerability in case when the device located near to the base of cell towers.
Experts expect that the full potential of Edge computing will be visible when 5G network is in place.
Advantages:
- Low latency
- Real-Time Availability
- Real-Time Data Transmission
- Bring company and customer together
- Consumer perspective it provide a good digital experience
- Productivity Increase
Disadvantages:
- No or Limited Redundancy
- Potential loss or corruption of data
- Longer outage time
- Lack of Tier III/IV security
- Higher risk
